Spring Season Overview

SYBSA provides over 400 boys and girls ages 5-15 with the opportunity to learn and develop their
baseball and softball skills in an all-inclusive spring program that aims to provide a fun and exciting youth
sports experience for players of all abilities.  SYBSA is a chartered member of Little League Baseball and
works hard to perpetuate the values of fair play and sportsmanship - the foundation of Little League
Baseball.  Our program offers 7 divisions of spring baseball to provide a fun and competitive learning
experience to players of all ages and abilities.

Divisions

Our T-ball program introduces the game of baseball to our youngest participants (mostly 5 year olds) and
focuses on the fundamentals of hitting and fielding.  Players hit a ball off a batting tee.  The primary goals
are to have fun, to instruct children in the fundamentals of baseball and to allow them to experience the
value of teamwork.

Our Minor League program continues to focus on skills development and fun while progressively
introducing the kids to a more competitive playing environment. Players from ages 6-11 are organized
into 3 levels (A, AA, and AAA) based on age and ability and progressively move through each level as their
baseball skills and knowledge of the game develop.  The goal of the Minor League is to prepare children
for eventual selection to a Major League team.

In this structure, players progress from the “A” division, a purely developmental coach-pitch league,
through the “AA” division, which introduces kid pitching while continuing to focus heavily on overall
skills development, to the “AAA” division, which continues to have a developmental focus while
introducing players to game rules that more closely approximate the standard Little League rules that
players in the Major League follows.

Our Major League program provides players ages 10-12 with the opportunity to continue their
development in a more competitive environment.  Teams play a 10-12 game regular season schedule that
culminates in an exciting playoff series to crown an eventual town champion.

Our Junior and Senior League programs provide players ages 13-15 the opportunity to continue playing
town baseball in a competitive and fun environment against other Southborough teams as well as teams
from surrounding communities
